Ten Celebrities born in Buffalo, New York by Kate Johns

After perusing about ten websites, I discovered that only the most well known celebrities that are already dead, have been placed on a list of celebrities having been born in Buffalo, New York.

The lists were very much the same, looking like the website writers and bloggers were copying each other's information. I created a better top ten celebrities born in Buffalo, New York list:

1.Lucille Ball, was born in 1911, in Jamestown , New York. She became a famous actress, having her own TV show. "I Love Lucy."Ball  became famous for her comedy routines, acting abilities, actually starting her career as a model. She died back in 1989, from an aneurysm.

2. Super freak, Rick James, who became a hit making super freaky machine in the late 1970's and 1980's had a major drug addiction problem and died from a host of health problems in 2,004. He grew up in Buffalo, New York, and died in California, and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo.

3.Diane English  was  a writer and creator of the hit TV series, "Murphy Brown."

4. Nancy Marchand, also born in Buffalo, New York, went on to  star in movies, including playing Tony Soprano's mother, in the HBO award winning TV series, "The Sopranos." She died in 2,000.

5. CNN Journalist Wolf Blitzer was born in Buffalo, New York. Wolf went on to make a career out of telling news stories for a living. Blitzer has been giving us the news from the CNN studios, and currently is hosting a CNN show called, The situation Room.

6. Wendie Matlick was born in Buffalo, New York in 1950. Wendie Matlick is one of the four reigning female stars of the hit comedy TV show, "Hot in Cleveland."

7. Johnny Rzeznik was born in 1965, into a Polish family, becoming an orphan by the age of 16. He is the lead singer for the Goo Goo Dolls, who have had hit songs named, "Iris,", "Name," and "Slide".

8. Have to name this guy, when talking about famous people from Buffalo, New York; Robby Takac. Robby was born in 1963, and he is the bass player for The Goo Goo Dolls. Robby does not act like a star, currently residing in South Buffalo.

9. Christine Baranski is also an actress, who has shown great promise in her roles. She starred as Cybil Shepard's best friend, in "Cybil", and as the Grinch's girlfriend, in the classic cartoon redone as a movie, "The Grinch." You may have noticed she plays a great dysfunctional mom on the Big Bang Theory!

10. Amanda Blake was born in Buffalo New York in 1929. Blake was best known for her starring role in the hit TV series, "Gunsmoke, " as Miss Kitty. Blake died in 1989 from AIDS-related complications. Don't forget Tim Russert, longtime host of "Meet the Press", one of the longest (if not the longest) running shows on TV.

Interestingly, Amanda Blake's show is also one of the longest running ever on TV (Gunsmoke).

Is there something about Buffalo that gives them such staying power?
